Raheem Sterling has been disqualified from driving with immediate effect after pleading guilty to dangerous driving and possessing nitrous oxide.
The former England international will return to court on November 25 for sentencing.
Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court heard that dashcam footage showed Sterling’s Lamborghini weaving between motorway lanes and almost striking the central reservation.
A witness said other motorists had to brake to avoid him and reported seeing Sterling inhaling from a large balloon while driving during the morning rush hour.
Police later found Sterling inside the crashed Lamborghini with two nitrous-oxide canisters on his lap.
He admitted possessing six canisters in total.
The court heard that Sterling subsequently told custody staff he had “a problem with nitrous oxide” and had told police he had not slept the previous night.
Prosecutors argued that the dangerous driving falls within the most serious category under sentencing guidelines, which includes the possibility of imprisonment.
District Judge Kirsty Allman ordered a pre-sentence report.
At the November hearing, she will decide whether Sterling can be sentenced at magistrates’ court or whether the case should be sent to the Crown Court.
His driving disqualification takes effect immediately.
