The meeting will examine whether common principles are needed to guide AI development while protecting human dignity.

The meeting comes as the industry’s own debate over frontier AI intensifies.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has called for capability development to slow while safety catches up.
Sam Altman has backed the case for greater restraint, while Donald Trump has warned that slowing American development risks handing the advantage to China.
Britain has so far pursued a comparatively light-touch approach, including voluntary access to frontier models for testing by the AI Security Institute.

The companies building these systems possess expertise governments cannot replicate.
They also have enormous commercial interests in how AI is regulated.
They should have a seat at the table. They should not own the table.
