German prosecutors have charged seven alleged Hamas members over a suspected weapons network preparing an attack against Israeli representatives, Jewish people or pro-Israel individuals in Germany or Austria.
The Federal Prosecutor alleges the group helped procure weapons and ammunition for an attack planned for early October 2025.
Investigators seized:
One fully automatic rifle.
13 pistols.
More than 700 rounds of ammunition.
Some of the weapons were allegedly transported across the border and stored in Vienna.
All seven defendants are in pre-trial detention.
German reporting says the suspected attack was being prepared around the second anniversary of Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel.
WEAPONS CACHES IN EUROPE
The case goes beyond allegations of individual radicalisation.
Federal prosecutors say Hamas’s military wing had begun establishing weapons caches in Europe.
The indictment describes alleged procurement, transportation and storage of weapons across national borders in preparation for an attack.
If prosecutors prove their case, Hamas had moved beyond propaganda, fundraising and political support in Europe.
It was allegedly building the infrastructure to kill people there.
The question is how extensive that infrastructure became before authorities disrupted it.
