Reform UK has received a second £36 million donation in just 48 hours, taking the party’s two-day fundraising haul to £72 million.

Cryptocurrency billionaire Christopher Harborne has matched the £36 million contribution announced a day earlier by fellow crypto entrepreneur Ben Delo.

According to Reuters, Delo’s donation had already broken the previous reported UK political-donation record of £10 million, a bequest to the Conservatives from John Sainsbury.

Harborne said he had already been donating around £1 million a month to Reform before deciding to match Delo’s contribution.

The extraordinary influx of money could significantly increase Nigel Farage’s ability to build the staff, candidate infrastructure, polling, data and national campaigning operation required to fight a general election.

Money does not guarantee votes. But £72 million from two donors in 48 hours gives Reform resources on a scale it has never previously possessed.

More to follow.
